Afterward, I felt like I should at least partly counteract the negativity by posting reasons to be happy. I came up with a few, but not an entire eight.
- My new job isn’t toxic.
- I have some great friends.
- Finally writing, even if slowly.
- I’m part of the #WritingCommunity.
All of these reasons are good, valid basis for happiness in my life. One & two are not to be underestimated in their significance at all! But as a writer who is trying to complete several works for publication, I must say three & four can’t be beaten.
To be finally writing, after all this time — even if I’m doing it at a snail’s pace — is an achievement in itself. It’s one of those small victories which inspires me to keep moving forward. I just have to remind myself on a daily basis that slow progress is still progress.
The #WritingCommunity on Twitter is absolutely amazing as well. I stumbled upon them in February and was just blown away by the support and camaraderie of these thousands of amazing people. It was like finding a home and a long-lost family that I didn’t even know I was missing. I truly think number three would have fallen by the wayside if not for the love and support of number four.
So I guess the entire point of this post was:
- Yay, I’m writing!; and
- Thank you, #WritingCommunity!
If you’re so inclined, you can support me — and my work — by buying me a coffee on Ko-Fi.
