Emily Lane’s poems in “Hollow” took me on a journey through a broad spectrum of emotions: love, longing, sadness, grief, anxiety, and dysphoria, interspersed with moments of beauty.
The pieces are a window into the mind and soul of a person in transition, one who is actively becoming whom she was intended to be.
However, many of the pure and raw emotions expressed in this book — the ideas she explores, the struggles she addresses — are relevant to just about any reader. You don’t have to be LGBTQ to appreciate the struggles of love and self-discovery or the joy of finding yourself after feeling long-lost.
5 Stars, and I would definitely recommend this book to others.
